There are predictable challenges in a church’s journey. When we don’t navigate them well, churches stall, divide or decline. We’ve all seen pastors leave, problems blow up and churches die when they didn’t need to!

Because of this, We believe Every Pastor could use a strategic mentor. No one should pastor alone!

We created StrategicMentors.church to help you lead wisely in your specific challenges with insight from other experienced pastors.

Our Hope is to unleash the Kingdom impact of pastors & churches by helping them connect with the right mentors at the right time.

What is a Strategic Mentor?

Just trusted pastor ready to share his experience with others. That’s it! Normally this means one or two conversations.

The mentors on this site are humble pastors or former pastors from our Church Forward (KNCSB) network. They have served faithfully with character and impact over time. They are excited and ready to share their time, hearts and experience with you. Without pressure.

We believe in your calling. We believe you know your church best. They will simply respond to your questions out of their experience to help you follow Jesus’ lead in your situation.

I believe in this because strategic mentors helped me greatly. I had the blessing of pastoring one church through many growth challenges for 25 years. There is no way that happens without the informal strategic mentors God placed on my path. I hope this can help you as well!

How Does It Work?

  • Register on the website to access mentor info. www.strategicmentors.church.
  • Use the “Find a Mentor” tab to search topics. Each topic will reveal pastors who have walked through that challenge well already.
  • Decide which to reach out to and set up your conversation
  • Prayerfully reflect on what you learn and sharpen your plan in your situation.

John currently serves as the Leadership Health Director for the Kansas-Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists. He came to this role in 2021 after serving as lead pastor of Parkview church for 25 years. That season included walking through many joys, challenges & transitions. He learned and led through shifts in worship, staffing, structure, strategies and COVID with an overriding emphasis on making disciples and biblical church health. He is marked by a deep love for God’s Word. John has been involved in pastor cluster groups for many years and served KNCSB in a variety of volunteer roles including president of the convention. He has a passion for pastors and their families to thrive in their calling and relationships through a deepening relationship with Jesus & each other.
